Ghana’s Youth Employment Agency Secures 600 Remote Jobs with $250 Weekly Pay
By Youth TV News Desk | Accra, Ghana | 20 June 2025
Ghana’s Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has secured 600 remote job placements from international companies, offering young people across the country the opportunity to work online from home and earn $250 per week.
The initiative, announced on Friday by YEA’s Chief Executive Officer Malik Basintale, is aimed at expanding employment opportunities for Ghanaian youth through the global gig economy. Qualified applicants will undergo certified training to become virtual assistants, after which they will be matched with overseas firms seeking online administrative support.
“We’re creating access to globally relevant jobs right from Ghana, providing income in dollars and skills that are future-proof,” Mr. Basintale said.
Details of the Programme
- Number of slots: 600
- Job type: Virtual Assistant (remote)
- Pay: $250 per week (approx. GHS 2,575)
- Location: Work from home
- Application deadline: 30 June 2025
- Platform: apply.yea.gov.gh
Applicants must be Ghanaian citizens aged 18 to 35, with at least a Senior High School education, a valid Ghana Card, and access to a computer or smartphone with reliable internet.
Promoting Digital Inclusion and Economic Empowerment
The programme comes at a time when Ghana is grappling with a growing youth unemployment rate and increased demand for digital jobs. By targeting virtual assistant roles, the Youth Employment Agency hopes to tap into a rising global market while equipping young people with transferable soft and digital skills.
Analysts say the move reflects a broader trend among African nations seeking to leverage technology to address job scarcity.
“This programme allows Ghanaian youth to earn in foreign currency while remaining in-country,” said Dr. Elsie Aboagye, a digital transformation specialist. “It’s an innovative way to tackle unemployment without relying solely on local labour markets.”
Long-Term Vision
YEA officials say this is the first phase of a larger remote work initiative. If the pilot proves successful, the agency plans to expand the programme to include other digital job categories such as content creation, customer support, and e-commerce operations.
The strategy also aligns with government ambitions to position Ghana as a regional digital hub, following recent investments in internet infrastructure and digital skills training.
What Happens Next?
Selected applicants will undergo a short, intensive training in virtual assistance before they are onboarded with partner firms. Training modules will include communication skills, calendar management, customer service, and digital task management.
Mr. Basintale has encouraged eligible youth to apply immediately, noting that placement is competitive and limited.
How to Apply
Applications can be submitted through the YEA portal at apply.yea.gov.gh. The deadline for submission is 30 June 2025.
